Oklahoma Gazette is proud to announce its 6th annual Dachshund Dash will take place Sunday, April 18, 2010 inside the Cox Convention Center Arena, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Doors open at noon.

Oklahoma Gazette’s Dachshund Dash is a just-for-fun dog racing event that raises money for animal welfare and adoption centers the metro. This year, our goal is to raise at least $10,000 for Central Oklahoma Humane Society.

The past 5 years’ events have been phenomenally successful, bringing in thousands of onlookers from all across the state and region and raising thousands of dollars for charity.

Admission is $1.00 for all adults, kids and dogs. (Cash only, please.) Premium seating will be available for an extra $2.00 per person. Spectators may place $2 wagers on the Dachshunds that are racing. If they choose a first or second place dog, they win prizes like t-shirts and koozies. The proceeds of the wagers are donated to the Central OK Humane Society.

Other Dachshund Dash merchandise such as official shirts, buttons, posters etc. are available for purchase at the event.

This year, we will be racing 96 dogs selected by lottery from the entry forms we receive. Entry forms will publish in the Gazette on Feb. 17, Feb. 24, March 3 and March 10, and the drawing will take place Monday, March 22nd at a location to be announced. On the day of the event, we will have a total of 16 races beginning at 1pm. The winners of individual races will move on to the next bracket until a champion is determined!

Registration forms can be found here or inside Oklahoma Gazette Feb. 17-March 10. The registration fee is $20 per dog and is non-refundable, even if the dog is not drawn to race. The deadline to register is March 15.
